Job Description:
At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a dedicated Construction Supervisor I to join our team at our project in the province of Girona, Spain.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety
- First Priority is the Safety & Health of all persons working on or visiting the Site.
- Actively promotes compliance with the Construction Safety & Health Plan and Environmental Management plans. Intervenes directly if any unsafe situations or practices are observed.
- Interacts with and coaches the workforce in the application of best safety practices.
- Participate in the weekly safety audits as require by the rota.
- In conjunction with the Construction Manager and EHS team, reviews Trade Partners’ method statements, SPAs, permit applications and provides feedback to ensure all risks have been assessed and appropriate control measures put in place to execute the works safely.
- Participates in weekly Safety/Co-ordination meetings.
Scope
- Be fully familiar with the contract scope, technical documentation package, contract price details and fabrication/supply/construction programme.
Coordination
- Monitors the day-to-day site activities of the Trade Partners, to ensure they complete their contracts in terms of safety, quality, schedule, cost and documentation. Is fully informed on planned activities, work methods and resources.
- Participates in morning planning meeting at workface (‘Whiteboard meetings’).
- Be Aware, action and provide feedback on:
o Output from 4-Week Look-ahead Meetings.
o Weekly Coordination Meetings.
Quality
- Monitors the implementation of the Trade Partners’ Quality plan; carries out daily inspections of the works to ensure the required standards are achieved; witnesses any tests or inspections required under the Inspection and Test Plan.
- Keeps the CM informed on all quality matters; advises CM of any potential deviations from the IFC documentation and ensures that only approved changes are implemented.
- Ensure work inspected conforms to the approved Samples, Mock-Ups and Bench-Marks.
- In conjunction with the Turnover Engineer, reviews and approves test packs; provides information to the database controller so that status reports are up-to-date and accurate.
- Participates in system walkdowns, punch-list management, construction close-out and turnover of package scope to client.
- Ensure construction IFC’s are Red-Lined showing progress achieved and accuracy of installation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional Utility experience.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in electrical construction, protection, and testing for electric substations/switching station equipment.
- Experience in field electrical supervision and protection cutovers.
- Construction supervision experience with crews.
- Capable of reading schematics and design drawings.
- Capable of electrical troubleshooting.
- The position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
- Basic working knowledge of electric distribution systems, and civil construction.
- Knowledge of specification and contract enforcement, applicable technical standards, OSHA, and other regulatory statutes.
- Knowledge of trade agreements, procedures, techniques, work methods, and standards used in the construction industry.
- Administrative skills for effective monitoring of contractor progress, cost control, and contractual interpretation matters.
- Software skills: MS Office Products at a minimum, industry-related software products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as engineering, project management, or construction management).
This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is considered a field contractor supervisor and acts in a supervisory role for fieldwork for IPS employees or subcontractors.
All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
