About Customs Wise

Customs Wise España, S.L. is a newly established Spanish subsidiary of Customs Wise Ireland, a customs compliance company with more than 25 years of industry experience.

As part of our international expansion, we are establishing our first Spanish office in Algeciras. We are seeking an experienced Representante Aduanero to take responsibility for customs operations, support the establishment and day-to-day management of the Algeciras office, and develop professional relationships within the local logistics and customs sector.

The Position

This is a senior and varied position combining customs representation and compliance, office management and local business development. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team in Ireland and coordinate, where appropriate, with Customs Wise's existing operation in Tangier, Morocco.

The position provides an opportunity to play a significant role in establishing and developing the company's Spanish operation.

Key Responsibilities

Customs Representation & Compliance

- Act as the company's registered Representante Aduanero with the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT).
- Prepare, review and manage customs declarations and associated documentation.
- Ensure customs activities comply with applicable Spanish and European Union customs legislation.
- Provide guidance and practical support on customs procedures and compliance matters.
- Liaise with customs authorities and other relevant stakeholders as required.
- Identify, investigate and resolve customs-related issues and discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate customs records and documentation.
- Monitor developments in Spanish and EU customs legislation and ensure relevant procedures are updated accordingly.

Office Management

- Take responsibility for the effective day-to-day operation of the Algeciras office.




- Establish and maintain appropriate office procedures and operational processes.
- Coordinate activities with the Customs Wise Ireland management and operations teams.
- Work closely with the Customs Wise Morocco operation, particularly the Tangier office.
- Provide regular operational updates to the Irish management team.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of local employees as the Spanish operation grows.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's Spanish operating procedures.

Business Relationships & Development

- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and industry stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain contacts within the Port of Algeciras and the wider customs, logistics and shipping community.
- Develop relationships with freight forwarders, shipping companies, logistics providers and other relevant organisations.
- Identify opportunities to develop Customs Wise's business presence in Spain.
- Represent Customs Wise professionally at relevant industry meetings and events.
- Provide local market knowledge and commercial insight to the Irish management team.

Essential Requirements

- Registered and authorised Representante Aduanero with AEAT.
- Relevant professional experience in customs, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics or a related sector.
- Strong knowledge of Spanish and EU customs procedures and legislation.

Fluent Spanish and English, both written and spoken.

- Based in Algeciras or willing to relocate to the area.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.

Desirable Requirements





- Previous experience managing or coordinating a small office or team.
- Existing professional relationships within the Port of Algeciras or the wider customs and logistics sector.
- Experience working with international organisations or overseas teams.
- Experience with customs declaration and management systems.
- Knowledge of the Spain–Morocco trade corridor.
- Previous experience working with Moroccan customs operations.

About the Successful Candidate

We are looking for a professional who combines strong technical knowledge of customs with the ability to operate independently and build effective business relationships.

The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of the local operation while working as part of an international organisation. Previous experience in office or team management would be advantageous, although the primary requirement is strong customs expertise and the ability to establish and develop the Spanish operation.
