Mathematics Teacher — Full-Time, Immediate Start
AESA Prep Academy of Barcelona is seeking a full-time Mathematics Teacher to join our team immediately.
This is an on-campus position in Barcelona, Monday through Friday, 9:00–16:00.
Candidates must:
- Be fluent in English.
- Currently reside in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
- Have legal authorization to work in Spain.
- Be available to start immediately.
- Have previous teaching experience.
We are ideally looking for a teacher comfortable teaching across the high school mathematics curriculum, from Algebra I through Calculus. However, excellent teachers who can confidently teach through Precalculus are also encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
As a Mathematics Teacher at AESA, you will teach and support high school students across our in-person program at AESA Prep Academy of Barcelona and through AESA Prep International.
In-Person Teaching
- Teach mathematics face-to-face in small high school classes.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the American high school mathematics curriculum.
- Prepare course materials, assignments, activities, and assessments.
- Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required academic records.
- Communicate with parents, Student Support, and school leadership regarding student progress when appropriate.
Teacher-of-Record Responsibilities
- Serve as the teacher of record for assigned mathematics courses through AESA Prep International.
- Monitor student progress and engagement in assigned courses.
- Grade assignments and assessments and provide meaningful, individualized feedback.
- Respond to student questions and provide academic support when needed.
- Work with our Student Success team to identify and support students who are struggling or falling behind.
- Maintain accurate grades and course records in Brightspace, our learning management system.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, Engineering, Physics, or another field with a strong mathematics component.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Ability to confidently teach mathematics through at least Algebra II and Precalculus.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using educational technology and learning management systems.
- Currently residing in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
- Legal authorization to work in Spain.
- Available to start immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching qualification or certification, such as a Máster de Profesorado, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of secondary/high school mathematics teaching experience.
- Ability to teach the full high school mathematics sequence through Calculus.
- Experience teaching AP Calculus.
- Experience teaching within an American or international school environment.
- Experience supporting students in asynchronous or self-paced courses.
- Experience using Brightspace or another learning management system.

AESA Prep Academy of Barcelona is an international American high school serving students in Grades 9–12 from our campus in Pedralbes, Barcelona. Our small-class environment allows teachers to know their students well and provide highly individualized instruction and support.
AESA Prep International is our asynchronous, self-paced online high school, serving students in Barcelona and around the world. Teachers serve as teachers of record for their assigned courses, monitoring student progress, grading work, providing feedback, and supporting students academically.
Both schools are part of the AESA International School System, which also includes our school in Austin, Texas.
