Joining Green Eagle means growing alongside the company and becoming part of the transformative mindset that defines us.
If you are encouraged to do great things, join our team!
The challenge:
Green Eagle builds mission-critical energy optimisation systems. Our platform processes real-time telemetry from renewable assets and integrates with control centres and grid operators through industrial protocols. When it degrades, energy production is affected directly. That constraint shapes every architectural decision here.
We are scaling the engineering organisation, and our architecture and technical standards need to evolve with it. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will own the most ambiguous, cross-cutting technical problems in the company: scalability, reliability, architectural simplification and the quality of technical decision-making across teams. Much of the structure you will work within does not exist yet. You will help create it.
This is a senior IC role. You will not manage people. You will set technical direction, mentor senior engineers and Tech Leads, and create leverage across multiple teams. Your first months will go into understanding the products, the architecture and how the organisation actually works before proposing changes to any of it. From there, your impact will come from solving systemic problems and raising the technical ceiling of the organisation,

not from owning a backlog.
Our Environment:
We value technical ownership, pragmatic architecture, reliability by design, automation over manual work, and AI-assisted engineering with measurable impact.
Our stack:
- .NET services and Angular applications
- AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform and GitOps
- GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions
- PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, Redis and Kafka
- OpenTelemetry-aligned observability and Datadog
You do not need to be an expert in all of it from day one.
What You`ll Be Doing:
- Architecture and technical strategy. Define and guide the evolution of our product and platform architecture, including modularity, service boundaries, data flows, integrations and production readiness. Identify structural bottlenecks and reliability risks before they constrain delivery. Own build-versus-buy calls.
- Cross-team initiatives. Lead complex, ambiguous initiatives from discovery to adoption. Create clarity, align stakeholders, set direction and trade-offs. Contribute directly to critical codebases and reference implementations when it creates leverage.
- Engineering standards and operational quality. Establish standards and patterns that teams actually adopt. With Platform Engineering, define operational quality at scale: observability, SLOs, alerting, incident practice, production-readiness criteria.
- AI-assisted engineering. Set how AI is used here: quality criteria, validation, security, traceability, cost. Identify where it creates real leverage and where it adds complexity and measure its impact on throughput and quality.

- Mentoring and influence. Grow senior engineers and Tech Leads through design reviews, RFCs and hands-on collaboration. Influence through credibility, not authority.
- Product partnership. Work with Product and leadership so that architectural investment, technical debt and reliability work are understood in terms of customer impact and delivery capacity.
What You need to Succeed:
- Significant experience as a senior IC in complex production environments, with strong foundations in architecture, distributed systems, or platform engineering.
- A track record of systems that stay scalable and reliable in production, including cloud-native systems, APIs, data flows and observability.
- Experience driving ambiguous cross-team initiatives to adoption without formal authority
- Architectural judgement: You can weigh delivery pressure against sustainability and explain the trade-off to engineers and executives alike.
- Hands-on ability to write and review production code, and to raise the level of senior engineers through design reviews.
- Practical use of AI-assisted engineering tools, with a critical view of quality, security, and cost.
Why Work At Green Eagle?
