Workflow Management Software Engineer (RE2)

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. We are particularly interested for this role in the strengths and lived experiences of women and underrepresented groups to help us avoid perpetuating biases and oversights in science and IT research.

In the framework of the Earth-Sciences department, the candidate will substantially improve the efficiency and productivity of numerical weather and climate simulations on high-performance computing platforms by supporting the end-to-end workflows of integral Earth system modeling in HPC environments.

The candidate will develop solutions for cross-cutting HPC challenges, in particular in the weather and climate domain, and help to develop existing workflow orchestration software.

Coordinate the BSC activities related to the technical development, testing, improvements, and documentation of the Autosubmit workflow engine.




Maintain the operational deployment on different HPC platforms.
Maintain the software in Git and deploy it to the HPC module and to the PyPi repository, publishing both source code updates and documentation.
Having a Bachelor in Computer Science or related discipline.
Having a Master's degree will be valued.

Excellent development skills in Python 3 and OOP, and experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (bash, ...)
Experience writing and maintaining tests (unit, functional, ...)

Experience in version control in a collaborative environment, including SVN or Git
Previous experience in scientific Python packages (Python Numpy, Scipy, ...) Previous experience with workflow management solutions will be highly valued.

Holidays: 22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
