About the Role
We are looking for an experienced MEP Design Manager to lead and coordinate the Mechanical and Electrical design delivery across our projects in Spain.
The role will be responsible for managing the development of MEP design from project requirements through detailed coordination and construction, ensuring that Mechanical and Electrical systems are technically compliant, fully coordinated, constructable and aligned with programme, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover requirements.
Working closely with Project Management, MEP, CSA, BIM, Construction, Commissioning, Planning, Procurement, Quality, specialist subcontractors, consultants and client teams, the MEP Design Manager will act as a key interface between design and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overall MEP design delivery, ensuring Mechanical and Electrical design information is developed in line with project requirements and programme.
- Lead multidisciplinary design coordination between Mechanical, Electrical, CSA, Architecture and BIM teams.
- Manage and coordinate Design Coordinators, consultants, specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review drawings, schematics, layouts, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules and technical submissions.
- Ensure MEP design is coordinated, constructable and suitable for procurement and installation.
- Manage service routes, equipment layouts, builders’ works, penetrations and key multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Identify and manage design risks, technical issues, RFIs and design changes, ensuring timely resolution.
- Manage design deliverables, priorities and technical actions in line with the construction programme.
- Coordinate closely with Procurement and Construction teams to ensure design information supports package procurement and site sequencing.
- Ensure access, maintenance, testing and commissioning requirements are incorporated into the design.
- Work with BIM teams to ensure effective model coordination and clash resolution.
- Oversee design information and workflows through Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and the project CDE.
- Support the coordination of As-Built information, O&M; documentation and technical handover.
- Provide technical leadership and support the development of junior members of the Design team.
Requirements
- Strong experience in MEP Design Management / Design Coordination within complex construction projects.
- Strong technical understanding of Mechanical and Electrical building services and their multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Proven experience managing MEP design through detailed design, construction and commissioning.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and ability to review and coordinate technical design information.
- Good understanding of constructability, installation sequencing and site delivery.
- Experience managing consultants, specialist subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar project information platforms.
- Revit and BIM coordination knowledge is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, planning, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good level of English.
- Experience in Data Centres, mission-critical or technically complex projects would be highly advantageous.
