General Requirements
- a. Be a Spanish national or a national of one of the other Member States of the European Union. Also eligible to participate, regardless of nationality, are the spouses of Spanish nationals and nationals of other European Union member states, provided there is no legal separation, as well as their descendants and those of their spouse, whether under the age of twenty-one or over that age and living at their expense. Likewise,



individuals falling within the scope of international treaties concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain—in which the free movement of workers applies—may participate, under the terms defined by European Union law. In any case, those who do not hold Spanish nationality must demonstrate proficiency in the Spanish language, unless such proficiency is inferred from their country of origin.
- b. Be at least sixteen years of age and not have reached retirement age.
- c. Not have been dismissed from service in any public administration through disciplinary proceedings, nor be disqualified from holding public office. If they do not hold Spanish nationality, they must also provide proof that they are not subject to any disciplinary sanction or criminal conviction that would prevent them, in their home country, from entering public service.
- d. Possess the functional capacity to perform the duties of a university professor.
