We are hiring a Junior Automation Specialist to help our team improve how we manage information and internal workflows. This role is built to support a long-term engagement with our partner, a European firm looking to refine their operational rhythms. As a fully remote position, you will work closely with our consultants to build simple, reliable systems that keep management work organized and visible.
About the role
At Olive Tree, we believe that management issues are often just bad habits. This role exists to help us replace manual, forgettable tasks with light automation and better data handling. You will not be building complex software products: instead, you will be building the connective tissue between the tools we use every day. Your work will ensure that when a decision is made or a priority is set, the right records are updated automatically. This supports our goal of making management work easier to hold for our clients and our internal team. Since this is an entry level role, we focus on your ability to learn our specific way of organizing information and your willingness to maintain the systems that keep us running.
What you will do
- Setting up simple triggers between note-taking tools and project trackers to keep data consistent.
- Cleaning and organizing data to ensure our written records are accurate and up to date.
- Testing new workflows to see if they actually save time or just add noise to the team day.
- Documenting how our internal automations work so anyone on the team can understand the logic behind them.
- Helping consultants prepare digital workspaces and document templates for client meetings.
- Monitoring automated reports to catch errors or broken links before they affect the team rhythm.
- Researching small ways to make our documentation more consistent and accessible across different platforms.
- Assisting with the categorization of meeting notes using basic logic and internal tools.
What we are looking for
- A strong preference for simplicity over complexity in how you solve problems.
- Careful attention to how information flows from one place to another without losing context.
- Clear writing skills, especially when explaining how a process works or writing a set of instructions.
- A calm approach when digital tools do not behave as expected.
- Curiosity about how teams stay organized and where management systems usually fail.
- Ability to follow a established process exactly while looking for small ways to improve it.
- Comfort working independently and managing your own schedule in a remote setting.
Helpful background
- Basic familiarity with no-code tools or simple automation platforms that connect different apps.
- Experience managing personal projects or academic work using digital task managers or databases.
- A background in humanities, business, or technology where clear documentation was a requirement.
- Basic understanding of how spreadsheets or tables organize information.
- Previous experience in a remote environment, which could include studies, internships, or volunteer work.
- Familiarity with collaborative document editors and how to structure them for easy reading.
What we offer
This is a full-time,
permanent position that is conducted entirely remotely. We offer a work environment where results and clarity matter more than hours logged in a specific time zone. You will receive a competitive salary that is attractive for this entry-level role and the current market. We provide the support needed to learn our specific approach to management advisory and the tools we use to stay organized. Because we are a small firm, you will see the immediate results of your work and how it helps the leadership teams we advise stay on track.
About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems; they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company's growth.
We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own.
The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
