Reverse of a trip I did this year, returning my classic wooden sloop, Kailena, from Gijon, Spain to Belfast, NI. Everything depends on the weather, but probably in August or September 2027, perhaps direct, or maybe stopping in France, Scillies. The idea is to be adaptable, perhaps bash on without stopping, or maybe spend nights at anchor or in marinas here and there.



The boat is a classic wooden cutter 10m long, with modern electronics, including AIS and Two VHF radios for reliable communications, plenty of safety equipment including a 4man liferaft, wheel steering, autopilot and windvane. This is a sailor's boat, comfortable, not luxurious, with a decent galley, good headroom, and a separate 2 berth forecabin, less headroom, for a crew of one. I am a 70 year old man, an easy-going skipper, willing to share tasks and decision-making with a crew member who has the same attitude.
