Job Title: RN - OR Circulator-Surgical Services, FT, Mon-Fri; 6:30am-3pm with Call Rotation
Reports To: Charge Nurse/Director
Job Summary
Provides direct and indirect care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of the patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under supervision of a registered nurse. Maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures, and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Provides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians/Nurse Manager/co-workers,
as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas
- Same Day Surgery / Endoscopy
- Admits and discharges patients including assessment
- Administers medications
- Documents completely to reflect care given
- Provides emotional support to patient and family
- Provides comfort/therapeutic items such as warm blankets, ice packs, pillows for elevation, etc.
- Educates patient and family regarding discharge instructions and any changes in post-procedure condition
- Communicates with anesthesia and surgeon changes and needs of patient prior to discharge
- Circulating Nurse, Operating Room
- Responsible for the activities of the OR
- Responsible for the supervision of the scrub
- Acts as the pr
