Our client is a leading clean energy company with a strong international presence across the renewable energy sector, covering the development, investment, construction and operation of renewable energy projects. As part of its continued international growth, the company is looking for an
experienced Director of Engineering & Construction
to lead its E&C; activities across
Europe and Latin America , based in Madrid - Spain.
The Role
As Director – Engineering & Construction, you will
provide strategic and operational leadership across the Engineering & Construction function , overseeing the
planning ,
design
and execution of
utility-scale renewable energy projects . You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards, while developing a high-performing E&C; team and strengthening the company's construction capabilities across its international portfolio. This is a senior leadership position, combining strategic responsibility with hands-on involvement in project delivery and construction.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the Engineering & Construction strategy
across Europe and LATAM. Lead
and
develop
the
E&C;
organisation , ensuring the right capabilities and resources are in place. Work
closely
with the
Development and Commercial teams
on new greenfield opportunities and project tenders. Support the company’s growth strategy by strengthening its project execution capabilities.
Engineering & Construction Delivery: Oversee the
planning ,
engineering ,
construction
and completion of
renewable energy projects. Ensure projects are delivered according to agreed timelines, budgets, quality requirements and technical standards. Establish and implement effective project management and construction processes. Monitor project performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Team Leadership: Build, lead and develop a high-performing team of engineering and construction professionals. Define resource requirements and optimise the allocation of internal and external resources.
Stakeholder & Project Management Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including development teams, contractors, suppliers and other project partners. Provide senior management with regular updates on project progress, risks and key decisions.
Risk, Quality & Compliance Identify construction and engineering risks
and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. Ensure
compliance
with applicable
technical , regulatory,
health & safety
and quality standards. Establish and enforce quality assurance processes across projects. Drive continuous improvement in project execution,
construction methodologies and operational efficiency.
Budget & Resource Management Oversee departmental
budgets
and
project-related costs . Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimisation. Ensure resources, staffing and technical capabilities are aligned with the project pipeline.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. Proven experience in a senior leadership
position within Engineering & Construction / EPC. Strong track record delivering
utility-scale solar PV projects . Solid
technical
background
within the solar energy sector. Strong knowledge of engineering and construction principles and practices. Proven
project management experience , including responsibility for schedule, budget, quality and delivery. Previous experience managing and developing engineering/construction teams. Good understanding
of relevant regulations, safety requirements
and industry standards. International experience, ideally across
European and/or LATAM markets . Spanish and English.
