Location: Lisbon, PortugalWorking hours: Full-timeContract type: PermanentAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced EU Closing Supervisor to lead and coordinate the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities across multiple European entities. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial close execution while providing leadership and guidance to the Record to Report team.The EU Closing Supervisor acts as a key partner to Finance, Controlling, Tax, Treasury, and external auditors, driving operational excellence, standardization, and continuous improvement within the closing and reporting processes.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities for assigned European entitiesEnsure all accounting activities are completed accurately and within agreed deadlinesReview and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustmentsOversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling itemsMonitor close progress and proactively address risks that could impact reporting timelinesSupport the preparation of statutory and management reporting requirementsEnsure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP requirements, and corporate accounting policiesSupervise, coach, and develop a team of accountants responsible for closing activitiesAllocate workload and resources to ensure delivery of team objectivesConduct performance reviews, development discussions, and ongoing feedback sessionsSupport onboarding and training of new team membersFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementControls, Compliance & AuditEnsure execution of key financial controls and compliance with SOX/internal control requirements where applicableMaintain strong governance over close processes and documentation standardsCoordinate internal and external audit requestsEnsure audit readiness and timely resolution of findings and recommendationsSupport implementation and monitoring of process controls and risk mitigation measuresStakeholder ManagementAct as the primary point of contact for closing-related matters across European entitiesPartner with Business Finance, Controlling, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and local finance teamsCommunicate close status, risks,
and issues to management and stakeholdersCollaborate with General Business Services and other finance functions to ensure process alignmentIdentify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate closing activitiesDrive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and qualitySupport implementation of new accounting requirements, systems, and process changesLeverage SAP, Cognos,BlackLine, and other finance technologies to optimize R2R operationsContribute to finance transformation and shared service excellence initiativesWho You AreBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related fieldProfessional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is preferred5-8+ years of progressive experience in Accounting, Record to Report, or Financial ReportingPrevious experience leading teams within a Shared Services or multinational environmentStrong understanding of period-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reportingGood knowledge of IFRS and financial controls frameworksStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management capabilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail while maintaining a continuous improvement mindsetTechnical SkillsAdvanced knowledge of SAP and other ERP systemsExperience with reporting and consolidation tools such as CognosAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with reconciliation and close management toolsis an advantageFamiliarity with process automation and finance transformation initiativesKey Success MeasuresOn-time completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closeQuality and accuracy of financial reportingReduction in open reconciliation items and aged balancesCompliance with internal controls and audit requirementsTeam engagement, development,
