About the role**

As a Senior Software Engineer – AI Vision / Computer Vision, you will play a key role in developing innovative software capabilities that enable parcel handling systems to better understand and interpret their operational environment. You will combine strong software engineering expertise with practical experience in computer vision, image processing, AI models, and scalable software architectures.

Working together with product owners, architects, automation specialists, and fellow software engineers, you will help bring AI vision capabilities from concept and prototype to reliable, production-ready solutions used in some of the world's most advanced logistics environments.

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

- Design, develop, and maintain software components for AI vision-enabled parcel management systems.
- Translate operational and product requirements into reliable computer vision solutions.
- Develop software that processes image and camera data to support real-time decision making within automated logistics systems.
- Evaluate, integrate, and industrialize computer vision technologies, AI models, and supporting frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with architects, product owners, automation specialists, and development teams to define scalable solution architectures.
- Ensure software is maintainable, testable, secure, and aligned with Vanderlande engineering standards.
- Support prototyping, validation, system performance optimization, and deployment activities.




- Take ownership of technical solution design and contribute to the long-term AI vision technology roadmap.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.
- Help establish engineering best practices within the AI vision and software development domain.

Your profile

You are an experienced software engineer who enjoys working on complex technical challenges and turning innovative ideas into high-quality software products.

You bring

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in software engineering, preferably within industrial automation, logistics, robotics, or other real-time environments.
- Hands-on experience with computer vision, image processing, machine learning, or AI-based perception systems.
- Experience designing and developing production-quality software using modern engineering practices.
- Knowledge of software architectures, APIs, distributed systems, data processing pipelines, and system integrations.
- Experience moving solutions from proof-of-concept to scalable, maintainable products.
- A strong focus on software quality, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- The ability to lead technical discussions, influence solution directions, and guide engineering teams without relying solely on formal authority.

Preferred qualifications




- Experience with computer vision frameworks such as OpenCV or similar technologies.
- Experience deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with automation, robotics, sensor systems, or material handling environments.
