Summary
You will serve as a Materials Engineer in the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center in the NDT/Welding Division of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA.
Duties
- You will provide technical authority on projects involving the repair and modernization of Forward Deployed Naval Forces.
- You will evaluate , and implement metal additive manufacturing technologies (such as Direct Energy Deposition [DED] and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing [WAAM]) used for shipboard component repair and replacement.
- You will apply metal fabrication, metallurgy, and advanced metal additive manufacturing (AM) principles to resolve a wide variety of complex problems and make recommendations for the content of welding and materials programs.
- You will apply the administrative requirements from NAVSEA and other higher authorities, specifically NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 to certify welding procedures and personnel.
- You will serve as the command’s engineering advisor for their evaluation, qualification,
and implementation for shipboard components of emerging metal additive manufacturing qualification policies and technologies (e.g., DED, WAAM)
- You will prepare, present, and evaluate complex technical plans, reports, correspondence, and qualification records to effectively communicate with and advise counterparts at NAVSEA, private shipyards, and contractor organizations.
