Position Summary
Temporary faculty members will teach undergraduate courses in advertising and public relations, including:

MCJ 40: Introduction to Advertising and Public Relations (taught in-person)

MCJ 106 Publication Design

MCJ 143 Media Sales

MCJ 144 Writing to Influence

MCJ 146 Media Planning

MCJ 155 Non-profit Public Relations

MCJ 158 Advanced Writing to Influence

MCJ 180 Water and Strategic Media

or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students

Instructor Responsibilities
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed, preparation, delivery, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams.



All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Compensation
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507‑$6,677 per month for full‑time 15 WTUs. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

Anticipated Semester

Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026

Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD or MA in media, communication, and journalism or a similar field, with an emphasis in advertising and/or public relations.

Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic background
