The VHIO Academy is seeking a Researcher Development professional to join our newly created Clinical Research Excellence &

- Research Culture unit. This role is pivotal in translating scientific strategy into institutional frameworks, programmes, and pathways that strengthen research culture, talent development, and academic excellence across our interdisciplinary and intersector biomedical research environment.

The successful candidate will combine expertise in science education & training, programme coordination, and stakeholder engagement to design and implement training initiatives, competency frameworks, and research culture actions aligned with institutional priorities, including Severo Ochoa and HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) commitments.

Responsabilities

Researcher Development &

- Career Pathways

- Shape institutional policies and career pathways that address the specific needs of researchers in clinical settings.
- Enhance visibility and understanding of research career pathways, creating resources, tools, and communication channels that help researchers and clinician-investigators navigate their career options and access development opportunities at all stages.

Clinical Research Excellence
- Design initiatives for clinical researcher development, including competitive international projects, visiting programmes and translational collaboration actions that maximize VHIO's clinical research impact and visibility.
- Foster integration between clinical care and research by developing mechanisms, programmes, and incentives that bridge clinical practice and research activities, promoting basic–clinical collaboration and translational science.

Talent Programmes &
- Selection

- Coordinate selection processes for funded PhD cohorts and early-career researcher calls, ensuring open, transparent, equitable, and high-quality recruitment aligned with HRS4R principles.
- Launch and coordinate new talent initiatives such as internships, visiting programmes and calls that stimulate innovation, collaboration, and career progression.

Research Culture &
- Community

- Work collaboratively across VHIO to ensure coherence, avoid duplication,



and amplify the impact of researcher development and translational research initiatives.
- Engage with researchers, clinician-investigators, and institutional leaders to gather feedback, identify emerging needs, and co-create solutions that strengthen VHIO's research culture and clinical research excellence.
- Collaborate with the Scientific Management Area to design strategic initiatives that foster excellence in translational oncology research.
- Support the co-coordination of activities between the People Area and VHIO Academy related to the HRS4R award, ensuring the implementation of the European Charter for Researchers principles within VHIO.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Severo Ochoa and HRS4R action plans, contributing to gap analysis, action plan implementation, monitoring, and reporting to ensure continuous improvement initiatives and maintain VHIO's commitment to researcher working conditions and institutional culture.

Requirements

Education

- Master’s degree in a scientific field, such as biology, psychology, physics, or a related discipline.
- Academic background in a scientific discipline (e.g., life sciences, behavioral sciences, physical sciences, or related fields).

Experience

Mandatory

- Experience in designing and scaling training programmes, competency frameworks, and research culture initiatives.
- Experience communicating across disciplines and sectors.
- Experience working in multi-institutional, cross-sector, interdisciplinary and international environments.

Desirable

- Experience in Researcher Development and Academic Programme Management
- Experience with Severo Ochoa, HRS4R and/or international projects implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Familiarity with clinical research environments and clinician–researcher integration.

Conditions

- ?Permanent contract.
- ?️Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week.
