Senior Back-end Engineer - PHP, Payments Team

EMEA . In this role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of a high-performance Payments system supporting integral e-commerce operations. You will work on scaling, optimizing, and modularizing payment services, including integrating new payment methods and improving reliability across multiple platforms. The position involves designing and implementing robust backend workflows, applying best practices in Domain-Driven Design and Event Sourcing. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless and accurate payment experience for merchants and customers. This role provides a dynamic environment where innovation, quality, and technical mentorship are highly valued.
Accountabilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for payments,



ensuring scalability and robustness
Extract and transform existing payment modules into independent services using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event Sourcing
Implement workflows and orchestration logic for high-load, distributed payment systems using Temporal.io
Integrate new payment options and support multicurrency and subscription management features
Collaborate with product teams to define features, resolve bugs, and improve code quality
Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and contribute to knowledge sharing sessions
Maintain high standards in testing, CI/CD, and software development best practices
Requirements

5+ years of experience with PHP development
Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS principles
Experience building and maintaining distributed systems
Quality-focused mindset: testing (TDD preferred), SOLID principles, pair programming, and Agile methodologies
