Offer Description
The Nanoprobes and Nanoswitches Group is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join an international and dynamic lab under the supervision of Silvia Pittolo. The contract will be within the framework of a Neuroscience research project using fiber photometry in freely-moving mice aimed at studying how antidepressant treatment alters brain neuromodulatory signals.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Perform animal surgery for AAV delivery
Conduct fiber photometry recordings and behavior in freely-moving mice
Simultaneous recordings of brain signaling molecules via fluorescent biosensors
Histological analysis of brain tissue
Data analysis and interpretation
Communication of results
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
Passion for Neuroscience research with a focus on psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders
Committed to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedicine, or related by applying to private and public doctoral fellowships
Independent, critical thinking and problem‑solving attitude
Excellent communication and teamwork
Research integrity
Accreditation to perform experiments in laboratory mice (FELASA or similar)
Experience with mouse surgeries, manipulation
Experience in brain histology (intracardial perfusion, IHC and smFISH)
Coding experience (Matlab/python)

Working conditions:
Full time (37.5 hours/week), 1‑year initial contract
