The Role
Are you an experienced accounting professional looking for a broad and varied role in an international environment?
We are looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team in Madrid. In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial processes, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with Canary Islands taxation and local regulatory requirements, while supporting accurate financial reporting and business operations.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance and other departments, you will contribute to accounting operations, monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings, audits, reporting, compliance activities, and continuous process improvements. In addition, you will support the Group Data Protection team in the Headquarter on compliance-related activities covering Spain, the Canary Islands, and Portugal.
What you will be doing
- Manage accounting activities, bookkeeping and financial transactions for the Canary Islands operations, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, statutory requirements and company policies.
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual closings, including reconciliations, reporting activities, IFRS adjustments and financial data maintenance.
- Monitor receivables, supplier payments, project accounting and billing processes, including WIP and margin analysis.
- Contribute to budgeting, financial reporting, KPI tracking and performance analysis to support business decision-making.
- Support audits, tax-related activities and compliance processes, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
- Collaborate with Finance and other departments to continuously improve financial processes and data quality.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data protection matters across Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands,
working closely with the Group Data Protection team in Headquarter.
Who you are
- Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a similar finance position, with strong knowledge of Canary Islands taxation and local regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial closings, and reporting processes.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP Business One.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
- Proactive and collaborative mindset.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Experience with IFRS, taxation, audits or compliance processes is an advantage.
