Job Description
Senior Vendor Managers in the International Key Accounts department are responsible for managing customer experience, topline performance, and ultimately profitability for their assigned vendors. They facilitate all interactions with the vendors, managing the assortment to deliver profitable growth, including creating new items and identifying underperforming SKUs to delist, negotiating contracts and terms, managing promotional activities, and resolving operational issues (e.g., inbound logistics, in‑stock, payments). Vendor Managers focus on creating scale and identifying competition and external trends for their vendors and categories. Within the Vet team, as well as managing two key suppliers of therapeutic pet food, we will also scope, secure sign‑off and then implement the customer‑facing proposition of the z+ Veterinary Food category.
Responsibilities
Managing day‑to‑day operations and interaction with the supplier and internal stakeholders, notably the Co‑Marketing and Central Marketing & Campaigns, Replenishment, Pricing and Shop Operations & Country Sales teams
Driving strategic negotiations to deliver top‑ and bottom‑line category growth for vendors and categories,
supporting the Team Lead with annual talks negotiation and negotiating through the year as additional marketing and promotion opportunities arise
Supporting creation of the z+ Veterinary Food category strategy and, after sign‑off, implementing assigned next steps to launch
Full responsibility for one of the two suppliers within the team, from contract negotiation and implementation to assortment, promo and marketing management
Creating opportunities for growth, customer acquisition and retention by conducting market, competitor, and range analysis
Reviewing results of promotions and marketing activations; changing course of action for year‑to‑go activities and negotiating new promotions & activations if needed
Identifying areas that need vendor attention and directing the team to address issues; acting as an escalation point, helping team and vendor(s) resolve conflicts
Auditing metrics regularly; evaluating products and services to continually drive quality customer experience across multiple vendors and categories
Working cross‑functionally to implement scalable solutions to address customer pain points
Partnering with cross‑functional teams to deliver the annual plan; building a network internally
Leading cross‑functional projects and involving the appropriate stakeholders (subject matter expert role)
Holding colleagues accountable for delivery of their responsibilities and tasks
Actively seeking feedback from others; being self‑aware; identifying areas for personal growth and setting goals for development
Qualifications
Graduate degree in a business‑related discipline
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in category management, vendor management or purchasing, ideally in retailing or the pet industry; experience working in e‑Commerce is an advantage
Experience managing complex tasks, motivating and guiding stakeholders to deliver desired end results while maintaining friendly working relationships
Work experience in an international company
Experience in project work based on analytical and strategic thinking and ability to structure complex facts
Ability to unlock complex issues and to work proactively on proposals and solution scoping, considering pros and cons and potential benefits and negative consequences
Ability to understand customer needs and market requirements to enhance customer experience
Strong influencing & impact abilities and vendor management experience including proven track record in negotiation
Fluency in English essential; other languages are advantageous
