As a community-focused project manager you are responsible for leading our non-formal education project with its objectives and its community. The role combines strategic leadership, financial and operational management, community member coordination, education, stakeholder engagement, and community development. It involves guiding members of the community; managing budgets and organisational planning; building relationships with local communities and external partners; resolving conflicts; and ensuring the project remains aligned with its mission, values, and long-term vision. This position requires an experienced and hands-on leader who can manage both people and projects within a collaborative, non-hierarchical community setting. The project manager oversees day-to-day operations while driving long-term strategy, financial sustainability, and organisational development.It is required that you bring your own laptop and phone to the project.Duration: 2 yearsCommitment: full-timeCore ResponsibilitiesLeading members of the community in “focus area” activities, providing general hands-on and theoretical education to community members (help with general activities, mini workshops, presentations, designing and running courses, working with interns to provide supervision/guidance etc.)Coordinating with other areas and departments to ensure they run in alignment to the overarching objectives (mission, vision, goals) of the organisationHaving financial responsibility for the project and making significant financial decisions to ensure it remains stable and robust. This involves planning ahead, budgeting and tracking progressBeing available 24 hours a day to attend to any emergencies/urgent mattersHandling internal and external disputes/disagreements and negotiating mutually favourable solutions to assist the project and (if relevant),
other partiesCreating a collective vision for Sunseed - working on the strategic vision and evaluating this as it goes on, ensuring it is achievable and that Sunseed remains true to thisDeveloping methods and techniques to measure progress and performance of the project, in line with goals and objectivesDeveloping and following appropriate processes for record-keeping, accounting, budgeting and fulfilling the project’s legal reporting responsibilities as an associationWriting both department level (annual plan, research reports, general record keeping) and organisation-level reports such as general annual reports, financial YTD reports, impact reports, forward-looking plans (strategic plans and communicating these with the local and wider communityBeing legally responsible for the project as a member of the associationLiaising with neighbours, understanding their individual/collective needs and capitalising on the role/niche Sunseed plays in the village to open more opportunities for inter-village collaboration and community buildingWorking to strengthen and expand Sunseed networks in activism, research, community exchange, environmental/social justice and implementing strategies to better incorporate this into operations (for example, programs/subsidies/schemes to assist people coming from developing countries, non-monetary exchanges such as olive harvesting, wood collecting).RequirementsExperience in project planning and coordinationBeing able to prepare, write and monitor budgetsExperience in basic accounting,
