Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Combat Systems SPY Technician to join our team in Rota, Spain, supporting the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC). This role offers a unique opportunity to directly support the readiness of forward-deployed U.S. Navy forces by maintaining and restoring critical radar and combat systems. This is your chance to contribute to something bigger—supporting general maritime security and the warfighter at the point of need.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve casualties involving AN/SPY-1 radar and associated combat systemsPerform on-site (OS) and distant support (DS) for U.S. Navy ships and shore-based OCONUS activitiesConduct maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of radar systems, including Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) and auxiliary equipmentExecute advanced fault isolation within radar subsystems, including Signal Processor (SIGPRO) componentsAnalyze radar performance and provide recommendations on clutter mitigation and environmental impactsSupport System/Equipment Assessments (e.g., TSRA, INSURV, ICMP, BMDRAs, Combat Systems Assessments)Assist with logistics support, including validation of Allowance Parts Lists (APLs) and identification of required componentsProvide on-the-job training (OJT) and technical guidance to ship’s force personnelDocument findings using Navy systems (e.g., MFOM/NMD, FTS) and prepare formal reports/debriefs in accordance with JFMM standardsRecommend updates to technical documentation, including Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), manuals, and proceduresSupport Engineering Technical Branch (ETB) efforts,
including system analysis and corrective action developmentTravel as required to support forward-deployed naval forcesMinimum RequirementsMinimum of three (3) years of journeyman-level experience within the last five (5) years in radar/combat systemsDemonstrated experience in maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of U.S. Navy radar systems, including BMD-related equipmentStrong knowledge of electromagnetic energy, radar theory, quantum theory, and electronic phasing as applied to AN/SPY-1 systemsAbility to understand and apply mono-pulse radar principles, including interpretation of sum and delta signals for fault isolationExperience troubleshooting radar signal processing (SIGPRO) componentsAbility to work independently without supervision in a journeyman-level capacityFamiliarity with Navy maintenance and tracking systems such as MFOM/NMD and FTSAbility to interpret and apply technical manuals, drawings, and engineering documentationWillingness and ability to travel frequently, including OCONUS and shipboard environmentsAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearanceStrong communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and briefsPreferred Qualifications (not required)Experience supporting AEGIS Weapon Systems, particularly AN/SPY-1 (all baselines)Experience with Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems and configurationsBackground supporting DDG-51, CG-47, or similar AEGIS platformsExperience participating in TSRA, INSURV, BMDRAs, or Combat Systems AssessmentsFamiliarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) processesPrior experience providing Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) or working at a Regional Maintenance Center (RMC)Experience developing or improving technical documentation and training materialsActive or recently held security clearanceExperience working in a forward-deployed or OCONUS operational environment, supporting naval forces in high-tempo, mission-critical settingsCompensation Details90,000 - 115,000
