Position Overview We are currently looking for a caring, friendly and competent associate teacher to join our team in the Early Childhood Center. In this position, you will support the PK-4 lead teacher and be responsible for supervising students, collaborating in developing lesson plans, preparing lesson material, and maintaining classroom tidiness. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment,
and demonstrations.
- Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
- Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
- Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
- Organize and label materials, and display students’ work.
- Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students.
- Take class attendance, and maintain attendance records.
- Assist in bus loading and unloading.
- Assist specialist teachers (library, art, other) in the lesson.
School-Wide Qualifications And Attributes The successful candidate must enjoy working with children and be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. To excel in this role, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods.
- A Bachelor's degree in education or relevant field
- Two years of recent work experience in the ECC level
- Familiarity with recent North American teaching materials and methodologies
- Evidence of recent professional development activities
- Experience working in an internationally and linguistically diverse school setting
- Effective oral and written communication within a school community
- Familiarity and experience with the Spanish language at the beginner/intermediate level
- Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
Conditions & Benefits
- Full-time schedule: Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM and Wednesdays until 5:30PM
- After school activities for staff
- Access to indoor gym outside school hours
- Three course lunch on school days
