About IUL
Since 1987, IUL has been designing and manufacturing innovative automation solutions for microbiology laboratories and in-vitro diagnostics. Our products are present in more than 100 countries, combining mechanics, electronics, firmware, software, and precision engineering to make laboratory processes safer, more reliable, and more efficient.
The role We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering Department. You will contribute to the mechanical development of our laboratory instruments, creating accurate 3D designs, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on mechanical design, manufacturability, and the development of reliable products.
Key responsibilities: • Create and update 3D mechanical designs using Autodesk Inventor. • Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD. • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and production solutions. • Define dimensions, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing requirements. • Support prototype assembly, testing, and design improvements. • Maintain drawings, technical files, revisions, and product documentation. • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality.
• Support additive manufacturing activities where applicable.
What we’re looking for: • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent university engineering qualification — MECES Level 2 / EQF Level 6. The former Spanish qualification in Industrial Technical Engineering, specialising in Mechanics, will also be accepted. • At least two years of professional experience in mechanical design, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing company. • Good working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor for 3D CAD. • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drawings. • Solid understanding of technical drawing and mechanical manufacturing processes. • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. • An organised, practical, and detail-oriented approach to work.
Additional qualifications or experience in additive manufacturing will be highly valued.
