Amentum is seeking a Solid Waste Operator to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Solid Waste Operator performs tasks related to the sorting, recycling, collection, transportation, and disposal of solid waste, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment and machinery required for solid waste operations in accordance with the Government-accepted Solid Waste Management Center (SWMC) Operations and Maintenance (O&M;) manual.
- Conduct inspections, monitoring,
and maintenance of solid waste equipment and vehicles to ensure proper operation and minimize downtime.
- Safely operate heavy equipment, such as loaders, compactors, excavators, balers, and other machinery used in waste management operations.
- Adhere to environmental and waste handling regulations to prevent contamination and ensure proper waste management practices.
- Perform site cleanup, waste segregation, and recycling preparation to support the waste minimization program.
- Monitor waste collection sites and containers to ensure proper use and report any misuse or maintenance issues.
- Ensure personal and team compliance with safety procedures for the operation of waste management equipment, processing, and disposal tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of waste collected, transported, and disposed of in accordance with contract requirements.
