Thomson Reuters is hiring a motivated and commercially minded legal counsel, based in Barcelona, to support Reuters' global business. This role will partner closely with Go-to-Market, Finance, Product and other Reuters business functions to support Reuters' business objectives.

It is a hybrid role split between office and remote work in accordance with the Company's Adaptable Work Policy (3 days in office, 2 remote). The role will support Reuters business globally and is an exciting opportunity to support a growing global news business in this growing and key location.

In this opportunity as Senior Legal Counsel you will:
Review, structure and negotiate commercial agreements based on the operational needs of the business (e.g., sales, product, technology, finance, content licensing partnership, events, SaaS, digital advertising and sponsorship)
Provide general in-house commercial legal support to the Reuters business and operational units globally.
Partner with Reuters and Thomson Reuters lawyers around the world to ensure business compliance with privacy,



data security and other IP and regulatory standards
You’re a fit for the role of Senior Legal Counsel if you have the following required qualifications:
Fluency in English.
JD/Law degree from an accredited law school and member of local bar in good standing and licensed to practice law in Spain
Significant transactional experience in drafting and negotiating major content licensing, distribution and other complex commercial agreements, with strong understanding of copyright and intellectual property laws
A solutions-oriented self-starter who independently manages complex matters, anticipates legal and business risks, engages stakeholders proactively and drives initiatives end-to-end with minimal supervision.
Ability to convey complex legal concepts and considerations in a concise, easy to understand manner.

Familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape governing AI, including the EU AI Act, and the ability
