The Buyer is a commercially-driven strategist who owns the category's growth by identifying market trends and leading critical negotiations from trading terms and budgets to distribution agreements with integral brands. Operating with high autonomy, this role bridges the gap between trend and data, transforming weekly trade insights into immediate sales actions and presenting curated ranges to the senior leadership team
What You'll Be Doing:
- Representing the Buying function on relevant fascia and category
- Attending all appointments, with involvement in selection and editing of product
- Attending all product launches throughout the year as specified
- Attending all relevant trade shows
- Analysis and review of previous weeks sales with the merchandising department to propose and drive actions for the week ahead
- Negotiation with selected brands re trading terms and conditions.
- Being constantly aware of new brands and opportunities to diversify and drive department/category sales
- Budget negotiation and planning within internal teams and external brands
- Negotiation with brands re distribution agreements
- Working independently in a creative and trend led environment
- Managing budgets and OTB on in seasons and forward budgets
- Present ranges for sign off with Senior Buyers, Buying Director and Merchandising Director.
- Preparation and presentation of performance in trade meetings
- Proposals to assist driving sales in your relevant department
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- High English level (C1)
- Extensive knowledge of the product market,
our store base, and website.
- Essential experience in buying branded goods, with a strong understanding of current and future sports fashion trends across high street and premium price points (Sports Fashion experience is advantageous).
- Highly numerate with advanced Excel skills and a proven ability to exercise data analysis, budget forecasting, and OTB/budget planning.
- Ability to work independently under own initiative, showing strong confidence in product selection and full accountability for commercial decisions.
- Exceptional organizational skills, and the confidence to drive projects forward.
