Platform Engineer (Core AI Team) - Madrid
Responsibilities
- Design and build platforms for our clients, enabling both engineering teams and business users to self-serve deployments and workflows – finding a balance between empowerment and control.
- Implement infrastructure to enforce application lifecycle plans, ensuring deployments are managed safely and consistently from development through to production.
- Partner closely with client engineering and business teams to understand how they work and translate their needs into platform capabilities.
- Disseminate software engineering best practices across client teams, including code quality, testing, and development workflows.
- Stay current with advances in AI-assisted and agentic coding tools, and lead the integration of these into client development workflows to drive measurable productivity gains.
What makes a great candidate
- A product engineer mindset - you treat the platform as a product, gather feedback from internal users (technical and non-technical alike), and prioritise based on real impact.
- Strong systems thinking - you understand how changes propagate across distributed systems and design with second-order effects in mind.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud (preferably Azure), GitOps, CI/CD.
- Excellent communication skills - able to engage clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and translate between the two.
- Intellectual curiosity and honesty - driven by a need to understand how things work under the hood, you ask the right questions, challenge assumptions respectfully, and are as comfortable saying 'I don't know' as diving deep to find the answer.
- A minimum 7.0 degree obtained in Computer Science, or a related field, from a top ranked university, as well as strong Bachillerato results (or international equivalents).
We would also prefer you to have
- Experience working in or alongside sell-side or buy-side financial services, with an appreciation for the pace, rigour and terminology of those environments — and the soft skills to engage effectively with senior stakeholders for whom time is at a premium.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK stack).
