Job Summary
The Salesforce Solution Architect is the design authority for Werfen's global Salesforce platform, which supports Sales, Service & Field Service, Marketing and Revenue processes across approximately 30 countries on a single core template. The Architect owns the end-to-end solution architecture, defines and enforces the technical standards that internal teams and external partners work under, and safeguards the integration boundary between Salesforce and the enterprise systems landscape (company ERP via Integrations software). A central mandate of the role is to bring the architectural knowledge of the platform in-house: absorbing, challenging and countersigning the designs produced by the implementation partner, so that Werfen owns its own platform decisions. The role is based at Headquarters in Barcelona and works closely with the Director, IT Salesforce & CRM Solutions, the domain product owners and the delivery team.
Key Accountabilities
• Owns the end-to-end Salesforce solution architecture across all clouds in scope (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud & Field Service, Marketing Cloud, Revenue/Quote-to-Contract), ensuring one scalable core template that serves all affiliates.
• Reviews, challenges and countersigns every major design before it is built, whether produced internally or by the implementation partner. No significant design goes to build without Architecture sign-off.
• Owns the integration architecture between Salesforce and company ERP through Integrations software, including the boundary contracts that define, attribute by attribute, which system is the source of truth.
• Defines and enforces platform standards: configuration versus code criteria, development and DevOps practices, release management, environment strategy, and documentation requirements.
• Owns the architecture of the territory model (Enterprise Territory Management) and its alignment with commercial assignment processes across regions.
• Designs the platform-side data machinery that keeps data maintainable by the business: entry rules and validations, assignment and deduplication tooling,
and quality measurement.
• Ensures the platform meets the security, privacy and compliance requirements of a regulated IVD environment, including GDPR across all countries in scope and full traceability of asset lifecycles.
• Leads the transfer of architectural knowledge from the implementation partner to the internal team, with the explicit goal of an in-house-first delivery model.
• Acts as the technical mentor of the internal team, supporting their certification paths and raising the platform knowledge of the department.
• Sets the technical standards under which the external run provider operates, reviews their adherence, and evaluates new Salesforce releases and capabilities for adoption.
Networking/Key relationships
• Reports to and works daily with the Director, IT Salesforce & CRM Solutions, as the technical counterpart on every major platform decision.
• Works with the domain product owners (Sales, Service & Field Service, Marketing Cloud & DevOps) to translate business requirements into core-compatible designs.
• Acts as the primary technical interlocutor with the implementation partner's architecture team: receiving, challenging and approving their designs.
• Coordinates with the company ERP and integration teams (Integrations software) on the enterprise integration landscape and the standardization initiatives that affect it.
• Works in close and continuous collaboration with the Data Analytics team: aligns the data that flows into and out of the platform, agrees on the reporting and analytics layer built on CRM data, and jointly assesses any external data or AI solution before it is brought into Salesforce.
• Engages with Enterprise Architecture, Security and Infrastructure functions to keep the platform aligned with enterprise standards.
• Interacts with affiliate teams during rollout waves to ensure local needs are met without eroding the global core template.
• Participates in the Salesforce architect community (release readiness, community groups, industry forums) to stay current on platform evolution.
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in the Salesforce ecosystem, of which at least 3 in a solution or technical architect role.
• Hands-on, multi-cloud architecture experience: Sales Cloud and Service Cloud / Field Service required; Marketing Cloud and Revenue/CPQ highly valued.
• Proven experience with large-scale enterprise integrations, ideally Salesforce-company ERP landscapes through a middleware layer (Integrations software or equivalent).
• Experience in integral, multi-country implementations built on a core template with local rollouts.
• Experience working with and governing system integrators / implementation partners.
• Professional fluency in English (working language of the program); Spanish is valued.
• Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, IVD, pharma, medical devices) is a plus.
Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.
Skills & Capabilities:
• Salesforce certifications: Application Architect and/or System Architect required; Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or active progression towards it highly valued. Integration Architect and Platform Developer certifications are a plus.
• Ability to challenge designs constructively and defend architectural decisions in front of senior stakeholders and external partners.
• Strong documentation discipline: architecture decision records, design documents, integration specifications.
• Mentoring and knowledge-transfer capability: this role exists to raise the technical level of the team around it.
• Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and product operating models. xkdbapo
• Analytical thinking and structured problem solving in complex, multi-system environments.
