WHO WE ARE?
Verdian is a European renewable energy platform dedicated to delivering clean energy and accelerating the energy transition. Our success is driven by talented people, entrepreneurial thinking, and a culture built on agility, flexibility, integrity, results, and empowerment.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Business Development Associate is managing assigned renewable energy projects from their current development stage toward RTB (Ready to Build) / investment decision, with a focus on utility-scale PV, BESS and hybrid projects.
The role provides dedicated internal development management for assigned projects in a strategic market where permitting complexity, grid constraints, land issues, regional procedures and reliance on external advisors require local coordination.
The role supports the development management process for assigned projects, including milestone planning, consultant coordination, permitting and grid follow-up, risks reporting and preparation of recommendations for internal decision-making. It facilitates cross-functional development workstreams involving Development, Legal, Finance, Construction, Asset Management, technical advisors, permitting consultants, grid advisors and local stakeholders.
The role will operate quite independently on a day-to-day basis within objectives, budgets, priorities and governance defined by the Integral Head of Development and the Verdian Leadership Team Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day development of assigned PV, BESS and hybrid projects, maintaining clear ownership of pre-construction development workstreams through to RTB / investment decision.
- Coordinate permitting, grid, land, environmental and consultant workstreams, ensuring relevant internal and external specialists are involved at the right time.
- Manage external advisors and consultants, driving timely,
high-quality delivery and maintaining accountability across permitting, environmental, grid, land, legal and technical inputs.
- Maintain project trackers, risk registers, milestone reports, development action plans and monthly reporting, providing clear visibility on progress, risks and recommendations.
- Support acquisition and development due diligence for new opportunities, contributing disciplined project-level analysis and recommendations.
- Make technical and operational decisions related to assigned development workstreams, consultant coordination, reporting, risk escalation and day-to-day execution, while escalating strategic decisions such as acquisitions, project suspension, material budget changes or investment recommendations to senior governance.
- Identify, assess and escalate risks that may delay, block or reduce project value, and help restructure workplans where needed to protect deliverability.
- Monitor progress against agreed development, permitting and grid milestones, development budget versus approved budget, consultant deliverables, and the quality and timeliness of reporting and due diligence inputs.
KEY SKILLS:
A first experience in coordinating permitting, grid, land, consultants and local stakeholders is a good plus, ideally gained in an IPP, developer, infrastructure-backed platform or renewable energy company. Exposure to BESS / hybrid projects and acquisition or development due diligence is also an advantage, but this is not mandatory.
Relevant educational backgrounds include Engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Economics, Business, Energy, Urban Planning or related fields. An engineering or technical background is preferred but not mandatory. Project management certification is useful but not required.
English communication skills are required.
Useful tools and working knowledge include Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint or other document management tools, project tracking tools, and basic GIS or mapping tools.
