IRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in cutting edge research line of the Molecular Modelling and Bioinformatics lab led by Prof Modesto Orozco.
Our group investigates DNA physical properties and its effects on nucleosome positioning and chromatin 3D structure. More precisely, we would like to understand how different mechanisms (ie epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation, nucleosome remodeling factors, DNA damage etc...) affect the general chromatin organization.
Our Experimental Lab (EBL) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow to study the impacts of DNA damage (UV lesions, Oxidative stress, etc...) and DNA repair on nucleosome positioning and 3D chromatin structure. The in vivo studies will be performed using the yeast model Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
The selected applicant will benefit from an environment with solid experience in genomics and epigenomics and from both the outstanding core facilities of the IRB and a strong bioinformatics support from the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently design and test biological hypotheses.
- Plan, perform and interpret experiments.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team, tapping into the expertise of fellow researchers and external collaborators.
- Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence, efficiency, and teamwork.
- Contribute to other lab projects and to the maintenance of protocols and laboratory resources in the group.
- Critically analyze analytical results, participate in scientific discussions and in preparation of diverse forms of scientific communication (seminars and conferences).
- Participate in the project activities: meetings, presentations, visits to other labs, collaboration, exchange of data sets, preparing project reports/deliverables.
- Perform excellent research according to the high standards of the lab and the IRB Barcelona.
YOU HAVE
- PhD degree in Biology or a related disc
