An international technology company is looking for a Senior Process Integration Engineer to bridge advanced semiconductor technology development with manufacturing. The role focuses on process integration, production ramp-up, and collaboration with internal engineering teams and external semiconductor foundries.
The position is part of the Manufacturing Support Team in Mechelen and includes supporting activities with the foundry partner in China.
Responsibilities
- Be part of the Manufacturing Support Team in Mechelen.
- Support and coordinate activities with the foundry partner in China.
- Bring prototypes into high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
- Define, optimize, and characterize in-line monitoring structures for HVM monitoring and qualification.
- Analyze inline optical data to verify process specifications.
- Run optical coating simulations.
- Assist in defining design rules and process step specifications to ensure high production yield.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of foundry process technology and define process improvements.
- Execute critical processing steps for device or test lots in prototype or production lines.
- Investigate failure modes, analyze SPC data, identify root causes of yield losses, and propose solutions to improve yield.
- Follow up on lot processing and process quality at foundry partners.
- Guide junior process integration engineers and foundry engineers in China.
- Provide timely and structured reporting on transfer status, project timelines, issues, and results.
- Support product and process technology development teams in building process technology roadmaps and assessing new foundry process and module capabilities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Master's degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent through proven experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor FAB environment (must-have).
- Strong understanding of CMOS or MEMS manufacturing processes.
- Experience with semiconductor equipment, in-line inspection, and metrology systems.
- Strong project management skills and experience reporting project progress.
- Ability to combine technical expertise with structured project execution.
- Comfortable working in international and multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience collaborating with external partners and semiconductor foundries.
- Proactive approach to solving technical challenges and improving processes.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear project updates.
- Willingness to travel and work in an international environment, including frequent travel to the foundry partner in China (approximately 20%).
Nice-to-Have / Bonus
- PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Experience with mask tape-out procedures.
- Knowledge of thin film filter technology and design.
- Ability to communicate in Chinese.
