Applications are invited for a Research Support position at the Center for Brain and Cognition, https://www.upf.edu/web/cbc, Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). The candidate will be part of the Neuroimaging the Female Brain (NEURO-FEM) project led by Anira Escrichs and funded by Fundació La Marató de 3Cat de projectes de recerca sobre salut sexual i reproductiva.

Project description: The NEURO-FEM project investigates how female sex hormones modulate brain dynamics across women's lifespans, examining menstrual phases, oral contraceptive use, and menopause. This project uses advanced neuroimaging techniques, computational neuroscience, and artificial intelligence to characterize hormonal effects at multiple spatiotemporal scales. The goal is to unravel unique patterns of brain dynamics influenced by ovarian hormones and to establish a relationship between hormonal changes and brain dynamics.

Tasks to be performed

- WP1:

- Actively participate in defining standards for data analysis, including neuroimaging data processing and quality control.

- WP2

- Extract magnetic resonance biomarkers based on theoretical neuroscience frameworks.

- WP3

- Create whole-brain models from fMRI data.

- WP4

- Perform statistical analysis.

- Apply machine learning algorithms.

- Actively participate in the interpretation of results.

- WP6

- Disseminate project results to the scientific community and the general public,



focusing on international and national neuroscience associations.

The duration of these tasks is estimated over a period of 24 months.

Group and complement: Group 3 + Level r

Dedication and working hours: Full time (35h/week).

Planned remuneration approx: 29.431,18 € gross per year

Requirements

- High school-FP2.

The expected start date is May 5th 2025, the job is in Barcelona.

Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:

1- Academic Training (0-20 points).

- Master in Neuroscience, Psychology or similar.

2- Other professional training and experience, adequacy to the proposed profile (0-60 points):
- Demonstrable knowledge of fMRI data preprocessing and analysis

- Demonstrable knowledge of statistics and machine learning.

- Scientific publications of women’s health and neuroimaging.

3- Other merits (0-20 points):
- Good knowledge of Statistics, R, MATLAB and Python.

- High level of English and Spanish.

The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job.
