What To Expect We are looking for a hands-on problem-solver to help push Tesla's Autopilot program into territory nobody has mapped yet. Our Autopilot Engineering Technicians work alongside test engineers on features and vehicles that don’t have a finished playbook - they invent the test setups, design the rigs and instrumentation, and work out how to capture the right measurements when no off-the-shelf method exists.

The right person is genuinely curious, energized by ambiguity, and happiest when the problem in front of them has no documented answer. When a tool for the job doesn't exist, your instinct is to design and build it, not wait for someone else to.

The role is full-time and requires flexibility to travel (up to 40%) to domestic and international test tracks, proving grounds, and public-road test locations on a fluid schedule.

Please note: We require an English version of your CV to be submitted with your application.

What You'll Do- Work with test engineers to define new test methods for Autopilot features - Pedestrian Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Road Departure Avoidance, and features that don't have names yet - often with no prior procedure to reference

- Design and fabricate custom instrumentation, fixtures, target rigs, and test equipment. Expect to spend real time in CAD, at the workbench, and iterating on your own hardware
- Prepare prototype vehicles for testing: instrumentation installs, part swaps, diagnostics, and debugging unexpected behavior on cars that aren't finished yet
- Maintain and troubleshoot the test fleet and test equipment - keep vehicles, rigs, sensors, and instrumentation in a known-good state, diagnose issues when something misbehaves, and get things back up and running quickly so testing isn't held up
- Support test trips on- and off-site - help test engineers execute their campaigns, set up and operate vehicles and equipment (including towing trailered equipment to and from test locations), troubleshoot on the fly when the vehicle or the environment does something unexpected, and bring back clean,

defensible data
- Coordinate with internal and external labs, tracks, and proving grounds on logistics and setup so testing runs smoothly
- Mentor junior technicians and operators - teach them not just how we test, but why, so they can start contributing their own ideas
- Document findings clearly and communicate issues to the lead test engineer with enough context that they can act on them What You'll Bring- A degree or equivalent technical credentials in an automotive, mechanical, mechatronic, or electrical field.
- Intellectual curiosity and a builder's mindset - you love unexplored territory, ask "why" and "what if" constantly, and instinctively reach for a tool, a sketch, or a prototype to answer your own questions.
- Deep, first-principles understanding of modern vehicle systems - how they work, how they fail, and how you'd instrument them to prove it.
- Fabrication skills are required, not preferred. Comfort with machining, welding, 3D printing, wiring harnesses, sensor integration, and general "build the thing you need" work.
- Demonstrated experience designing test setups or tooling from scratch - a project where no one handed you a procedure and you had to invent one. Be ready to talk through it in detail.
- Some exposure to ADAS, autonomous vehicle, or sensor-based vehicle testing is a plus.
- Hands-on experience driving prototype vehicles at or beyond their limits on closed courses.
- Comfortable driving a car with a trailer - this is a routine part of the job. A valid EU trailer license (BE class or equivalent) is required, or willingness to obtain one shortly after joining; valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Highly organized and self-directed - you can juggle multiple parallel workstreams, keep your own commitments visible, and stay on top of a schedule that shifts week to week (sometimes day to day) without dropping things
- Comfort thriving in ambiguity - shifting priorities and incomplete information energize you rather than frustrate you, and you're able to make sound engineering judgment calls and move forward
- Fluent English skills required
