Currently, we are recruiting for a Commissioning Mechanical Supervisor (m/w/d) for a major industrial project in Huelva, Spain .
This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and quality-driven pre-commissioning and commissioning of all static and rotating mechanical equipment on site. As Commissioning Mechanical Supervisor, you will lead field execution, oversee equipment run-ins and alignments, manage system walkdowns, and work closely with Construction, QA/QC, Vendor Representatives, and Completions teams to transition mechanical subsystems smoothly into operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Commissioning & Execution: Supervise day-to-day mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including uncoupled motor runs, equipment alignment, shaft rotation checks, lubrication, and vibration monitoring.
- Static & Rotating Equipment: Oversee the preparation and trial operation of rotating equipment (pumps, fans, blowers, compressors) and static equipment (vessels, heat exchangers, filters) to verify operational readiness.
- System Walkdowns & Punch Listing: Lead multidisciplinary mechanical walkdowns; identify, log, and manage punch list items to drive systems toward Mechanical Completion (MC) and Ready for Commissioning (RFC).
- Vendor & Sub-contractor Interface: Coordinate closely with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vendor specialists and mechanical sub-contractors during site acceptance testing, equipment runs, and system sign-offs.
- Safety & Permit-to-Work (PTW):
Enforce strict site health and safety standards; raise and manage hot work, confined space entry, and mechanical isolation permits in line with project safety procedures.
- Documentation & Quality Sign-offs: Verify mechanical test packages, sign off on inspection test records (ITRs), and ensure vendor documentation, preservation logs, and redline drawings are complete for turnover packages.
- Daily On-Site Coordination: Attend daily commissioning coordination meetings, review progress against schedule, and proactively resolve technical queries in the field.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Supervisor, Rotating Equipment Lead, or similar field supervisor role on large-scale industrial, mining, energy, or metallurgical projects.
- Technical Skills: Deep practical knowledge of static and rotating equipment commissioning, precision alignment, lubrication systems, dynamic testing, and system turnover processes (MC, RFC, RFSU).
- Competencies: Strong leadership and field management capabilities, sharp troubleshooting skills, and excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Languages: English proficiency is required; Spanish language skills are a strong asset given the project location.
