Senior Technical Asset Manager (Wind & solar)
An IPP backed by an investment fund is looking for a Senior Technical Asset Manager to join its team in Madrid, Spain, and work closely with the Head of Asset Management and the Portfolio
Managers.
This role will perform technical asset management activities for offshore wind farm,
based together with a regulated solar PV operating portfolio in Spain.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing energy production and revenues, identifying cost reduction initiatives, and ensuring the availability, transparency,
and actionable use of information across both solar and wind technologies.
Responsibilities
Asset Management & Technical Oversight
Lead technical asset management activities for the assigned wind assets,
while supporting solar PV technical management activities.
Oversee and manage the daytoday relationship with Service Providers (Asset
Management and O&M;), ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations.
Monitor and manage thirdparty service providers (insurance providers, market agents, etc.).
Develop a detailed understanding of SPVlevel contracts, including O&M;, asset management, grid, land, and commercial agreements.
Supervise compliance with technical, commercial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Review and challenge Service Provider policies, procedures, and processes to ensure contractual, procedural, and legislative compliance.
Review monthly operational and maintenance reports, identify underperformance or contractual deviations, and define corrective actions.
Conduct plant inspections and assess technical condition, availability, and reliability of assets.
Monitor and oversee cybersecurity compliance related to asset operations.
Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements and effective claims management.
Performance, Analytics & Optimization
Define, monitor, and report on technical and economic KPIs across wind and solar portfolios.
Perform indepth performance analysis, benchmarking assets internally and externally.
Prepare regular performance and portfolio comparison reports, highlighting value drivers, deviations, and risks.
Identify and implement technical, operational, and contractual optimization initiatives.
Support the evaluation of lifetime extension, repowering, and optimization options, particularly for wind assets.
OPEX & Cost-control focus
Lead OPEX monitoring and costcontrol activities across managed portfolios.
Identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining or improving asset performance and reliability.
Monitor asset revenues and collaborate with internal stakeholders to explain variances and risks.
Stakeholder Management & Strategic Support
Act as technical interface with key stakeholders, including O&M; providers,
market agents, landowners, regulatory bodies, and suppliers.
Maintain regular interaction with UKbased partners and customers,
particularly for offshore wind assets.
Support technical M&A; activities, including due diligence, technical assessments, and integration planning.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of internal reporting frameworks and assetmanagement tools.
Competencies
Strong, demonstrable understanding of wind energy technology – offshore wind preferred, onshore wind accepted with deep technical experience
Solid understanding of solar PV technology and regulated projects (RD 413/2014
experience required)
Good understanding of legal concepts governing Asset Management and O&M; contracts
Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1/C2 level minimum) – this role requires direct interaction with British customers, partners, and peers on a regular basis

Strong aptitude to learn complex concepts (tax rules, energy policy, financial structures, corporate structures, business models, etc.)

Highly analytical personality – comfortable extracting and analyzing large amounts of data;
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, conditional formatting, data validation)
to analyze operational data and build reusable dashboards.
PowerPoint proficiency to synthesize technical information into clear, executive-
ready presentations (narrative structure, visual clarity, speed of execution).
Hands-on experience with project management tools (Smartsheet, MS Project,
Planner) to track schedules, milestones, and resources in O&M; environments.
Practical SCADA experience extracting and interpreting time-series data (trends,
alarms, performance curves), focused on efficiency, availability, and forecasting reports – not system administration or
Valid drivers license
Education and experience
Bachelor’s and-or master’s degree in relevant discipline (Engineering or similar);
Between 4 and 10 years’ experience within the renewable energy industry working in the implementation and/or asset management/O&M; projects;
Demonstrable experience working with wind assets (offshore wind farms highly appreciated);
Demonstrable experience working with PV regulated assets;
Technical knowledge of other renewable energy technologies is appreciated;
