Contribution of power converter-based solutions that meet the specifications required for applications within the ME research line.
The most relevant tasks to be carried out are:
- Selection of the most suitable converter topologies.
- Proposal of control strategies, topologies, and novel devices that can improve the performance of currently used converters.
- Design and validation of the converter's power and control stages, both theoretically and through simulation.
- Design and construction of the Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) that comprise the power (generally power-scaled) and control stages of the converter.
- Sourcing, selection, and procurement of the necessary components and commissioning of the converter itself.
The development of these tasks involves the handling of computer tools for electronic simulation (PSIM, LTSpice, Mtalab-Simulink, etc.), mathematical analysis (MATLAB), digital control (FPGAs, DSPs and microcontrollers) and PCB construction (Altium, KiCAD, etc.).
