About the company
We are Hovering Solutions, a steadily growing company. In our development hub in Madrid city, Spain, we are creating disruptive technology solving a major problem related to the inspection and 3D digitalization of indoor/underground infrastructure using Autonomous Flying Robots. We highly value the contribution of all team members to the decision-making process enabling them to drive the growth of our company. Hence, we strive to create the best possible working atmosphere making feel the team members comfortable as we are highly interested in a long-term relationship with each person we hire.
About the position
Our flying robots are a kind of autonomous aerial drones involving perception, navigation, and pose estimation algorithms. As technology developers, we implement those algorithms in-house, which gives us a competitive advantage in the aerial robotic market. These algorithms are tested both in simulation and on real robotic platforms to assess their proper behaviour in different scenarios (horizontal tunnels, inclined pipes, and vertical shafts among others) before being used in real missions. The candidate will be involved mainly in the testing, validation and in-field deployment stages, providing support during real operations and helping to assess and improve the performance of the systems.
Summary of the tasks
§ Pre-testing,
simulation, and performance assessment of the algorithm's designs.
§ Troubleshooting and debugging of the systems in both laboratory and real operations.
§ Configuration and parametrisation of the robots and their algorithms before and during missions.
§ In-field support during implementation stage (national and international travelling is required).
Qualifications and skills
§ Bachelor's degree (or equivalent education) in Electronics, Mechanics, Aeronautical, Computer Science or a similar technical field.
§ Programming skills in C/C++, with the ability to read, debug and modify existing code.
§ Knowledge of autonomous navigation applied to robotic platforms.
§ Knowledge of Linux-based embedded hardware devices.
§ A resourceful, hands-on problem-solving mindset, able to diagnose issues quickly and find practical solutions under pressure, particularly in the field.
§ Fluent English skills orally and written (B2 or higher).
§ European driving license.
§ Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for short periods.
§ Knowledge of 3D simulation environments aimed to robotic applications.
§ Familiarity with ROS or a similar robotics framework.
§ Proven experience of at least 3 years in a similar position.
