Amentum, a general leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services supporting the U.S. government, allied partners, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking an Equipment Operator to support a unique U.S. Navy program located on the remote island of Diego Garcia.

Responsibilities:
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of heavy and light equipment in support of construction, maintenance, and logistics operations in accordance with Navy operational standards and safety requirements. Responsibilities include operating equipment such as forklifts, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and other material‑handling or construction equipment as assigned.

The Equipment Operator performs daily equipment inspections, ensures proper operation prior to use, and reports mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. This role includes supporting site preparation, material transport, earth‑moving, and facility maintenance activities while adhering to established work plans and procedures.





Additional duties include maintaining clean and orderly work areas, assisting with basic equipment maintenance, following traffic and operational safety rules, and supporting mission‑driven operations in a remote environment. The Equipment Operator contributes to efficient project execution while maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience operating construction, industrial, or material‑handling equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid country driver’s license
- Valid equipment operator certifications or licenses (forklift, heavy equipment, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of equipment operation, safety practices, and preventive maintenance
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing, and prolonged equipment operation
