Role Description
The Primavera Lead Planner / Senior Planning Engineer is a full-time role.
This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules using Primavera P6 and other planning tools, ensuring alignment with project scope, milestones, and resource constraints. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with project managers and multidisciplinary teams, updating progress, analyzing variances, and identifying risks and potential delays. The person in this role will prepare and present planning and progress reports, support cost and performance tracking, and contribute to schedule and cost risk analyses.
The position also involves advising stakeholders on best practices in project planning and helping improve planning processes and tools across projects.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules (level 4 where required): logic, WBS, interfaces, milestones, constraints.
- Resource load the schedule
- Establish and maintain baseline schedules and update cycles.
- Run weekly/monthly schedule updates (progress collection, validation, forecast, critical path analysis).
- Coordinate contractor inputs and ensure consistent planning standards across stakeholders.
- Prepare clear schedule reporting: milestones, look-ahead plans, key risks, recovery options.
- Support change/claim readiness by maintaining traceable schedule logic and update history.
- Contribute to planning methodology improvements (templates, rules, quality checks).
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in project planning tools and methods: Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Proficiency in scheduling techniques and in developing detailed, resource-loaded project schedules.
- Experience with progress measurement, cost and performance tracking, and Earned Value Management (EVM), as well as schedule and cost risk analysis.
- Ability to create clear,
accurate reports and dashboards that provide visibility on schedule, resources, risks, and performance to stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with project managers, engineers, and client teams in a multicultural environment.
- Relevant academic background in engineering, project management, or a related field; professional certifications in planning or project controls (e.g., PMI, AACE) are a plus.
- Previous experience as a senior planner or planning engineer in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or similar project environments.
- Comfort working in a hybrid setup with both on-site and remote collaboration.
- Able to operate close to the field while keeping schedule governance rigorous.
- English required; French an advantage, and other European languages are a plus.
