CISO Architect (B2B contract)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced CISO Architect to support security architecture initiatives within a government environment. The adecuado candidate has a strong background in security projects, information security frameworks, architecture strategy, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a senior-level security professional who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on knowledge of security governance, architecture, and implementation.

The candidate must have proven experience as a team member in security projects, with at least 6 years of expert-level experience. The candidate must also have demonstrable experience working within a government context.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as a CISO Architect and contribute to the design, assessment, and implementation of security architecture within a complex public-sector environment.
- Support security projects by bringing expert-level security knowledge, architectural insight, and structured advisory capabilities.
- Apply strong knowledge of ISO 27001 in the development, review, and improvement of information security management practices.
- Contribute to security compliance and governance activities related to NIS2.
- Develop and assess conceptual security architecture, using strong architectural and analytical skills.
- Apply security management techniques and frameworks such as the ISO 27000 series, CyFun, NIST, and CIS Critical Security Controls.
- Support the setup and implementation of architecture strategies.
- Work in an Agile environment and collaborate with teams using Scrum and Jira where applicable.
- Contribute to initiatives requiring knowledge of data modelling and development methodologies.

Must-Have Requirements





The candidate must meet the following requirements:

- Proven experience as a team member in security projects, with 6 years of expert-level experience.
- Demonstrable experience within the government sector.
- Proven experience in the role of CISO Architect, with 5 years of expert-level experience.
- Proven experience with ISO 27001, with 5 years of expert-level experience.
- Proven experience with NIS2.
- Proven experience in architectural conceptual thinking, with 5 years of expert-level experience.
- Proven experience with security management techniques and/or frameworks, including examples such as the ISO 27000 series, CyFun, NIST, and CIS Critical Security Controls, with 5 years of expert-level experience.
- Dutch language proficiency at European CEFR level C2.

Strongly Preferred / Should-Have Requirements

- ISO 27001 Auditor certificate uploaded or available.
- Proven experience within the Flemish Government.
- Additional proven experience with NIS2, ideally at least 3 years at medior level.
- Experience with Scrum and Jira.
- Knowledge or experience with an Agile approach and mindset.
- Knowledge or experience with data modelling and development methodologies.
- Knowledge or experience in setting up and implementing architecture strategies.
