The Pasqual Maragall Foundation was created in 2008 with the mission of promoting and developing excellent biomedical research. The Foundation is fully committed to being a decisive player in the search for integral solutions to the problem of Alzheimer’s and other related dementias, as well as raising awareness so that scientific support for these challenges receives the priority it deserves.

The Foundation's research is carried out in the

Barcelonaßeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) , a research centre established with the participation of Pompeu Fabra University and

la Caixa .

The vision of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation is to achieve

“A future without Alzheimer’s” , within the framework of active and healthy ageing, associated with positive experiences and free from cognitive decline. To this end, BBRC research focuses on the primary and secondary prevention of Alzheimer’s, thanks to the participation of thousands of people who voluntarily contribute to scientific studies to ensure that, in the near future,



far fewer people will be affected by the disease.

The Pasqual Maragall Foundation is a private, non‑profit organisation. Its financial resources come from philanthropic donations from organisations and companies, as well as from a broad network of more than

100,000 members

that contribute to funding research. The centre’s scientific staff also obtains competitive grants and subsidies, mainly from European funds and international foundations.
