Job DescriptionAs our first Travel Manager, you will design and lead the corporate travel program for Data Direct Networks. Travel is currently managed individually by employees; your mission is to support this activity to maximize budget efficiency, ensure traveler safety, and provide a seamless experience for our team. You will be the architect of our Travel Policy and the primary negotiator for our global travel partnerships.What You’ll DoPolicy Development: Support and maintain the company’s first formal General Travel Policy and define "reasonable" options for flights, hotels, and per diems.Vendor Negotiation: Build a Preferred Vendor program and negotiate corporate rates with airlines, hotel chains, and car rental agencies to secure better value than a standard retail customer.T&E System Management: Use our Navan program to control and report on bookings.Budget Optimization: Analyze travel patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities (e.G., sign fixed-rate deals with hotels near offices).Exception Management: Serve as the final approver for travel requests that fall outside policy, balancing business needs with fiscal discipline.Duty of Care: Establish protocols to locate and support employees during global emergencies or travel disruptions.Sustainability Tracking:
Measure the carbon footprint of company travel and recommend greener alternatives such as rail over short-haul flights.What we’re looking forFoundational Experience: 3+ years in corporate travel management or a high-level role within the hospitality/airline industry.Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large datasets of receipts and bookings to identify waste.Diplomacy: Ability to diplomatically decline policy violations from senior executives while maintaining a strong ntract Fluency: Knowledge of hotel contract terms such as LRA and NLRA.Desired CharacteristicsSelf-Starter – Takes independent action to identify and solve problems and seeks out information to make decisions.Success / Achievement Orientation – Delivers quality results consistently and sets challenging goals.Problem Solving – Recognizes and addresses the root cause of issues with practical, realistic solutions.Innovative – Generates new ideas, challenges the status quo, and solves problems creatively.Data Direct Networks, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
