Hays is partnering with a leading retail company to appoint a General Manager based in Valencia.

This is a high-impact leadership role that will play a key part in accelerating business growth, strengthening commercial performance, and shaping the future of the organization in Spain.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the Buying & Marketing organization in Spain and drive commercial performance across key categories.
- Develop and implement initiatives to improve sales performance and customer frequency.
- Analyze the current organization, identify capability gaps and build a stronger, more effective team.
- Lead supplier relationships, category strategy, assortment decisions and commercial planning.
- Ensure strong alignment between Buying, Category Management and Marketing activities.
- Optimize promotional plans and marketing initiatives to increase customer engagement and drive impulse purchases.
- Identify growth opportunities and implement initiatives to improve profitability and business performance.




- Work closely with international stakeholders to ensure alignment with group strategy and best practices.

- Buying and Category Management.
- Retail, FMCG or Consumer Goods environments.
- Commercial strategy and business development.
- Supplier negotiation and relationship management.
- Trade Marketing and promotional planning.
- Team leadership, coaching and organizational development.
- Driving transformation and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

- Proven experience in senior commercial leadership roles.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to influence and execute.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent Spanish and English.
