Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Málaga. The idóneo candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timely preparation of financial records, as well as supporting internal and external reporting requirements. This role will play a key part in maintaining robust accounting controls and providing reliable financial information to management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP/Spanish GAAP).
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, journals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Oversight
- Review AP/AR postings, ensuring accuracy, correct coding, and compliance with internal controls.
- Monitor aged receivables and payables, preparing reports for management.
Cash & Treasury Management
- Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow movements.
- Assist with cash-flow forecasting and liquidity management.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Support external audits, providing requested documentation and explanations.
- Support the team to ensure proper filing, documentation, and record-keeping for all accounting matters.
Process Improvement
- Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and tools.
- Support implementation of process automation and internal controls enhancements.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with operations and other departments to ensure accurate information flow.
- Assist in ad-hoc financial projects and analysis as required by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–2+ years of experience in accounting or audit (industry or Big4 preferably).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting (IFRS/UK GAAP).
- Excellent Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and structure.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience in real estate, hospitality, or investment fund structures, including Gibraltar regulatory frameworks.
- Audit background (Big4 or mid-tier).
- Knowledge of consolidations, intercompany transactions, and multi-entity accounting.
