ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Provide first-level technical support for all customer service/ teleport operation, installation, and maintenance processes at South Mountain Earth Station, Somis, California. Coordinate team shift and task schedules.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of the radio-frequency (RF) equipment used in large-scale satellite downlink and uplink operations; such as waveguide assemblies, cables, and fiber-optic systems. Performs component-level troubleshooting required on High-Power Amplifiers (HPA), fiber-optic systems, upconverters, downconverters, RF switching units, Antenna Control Units (ACUs), Low-Noise Amplifiers (LNAs) and Low-Noise Block Downconverters (LNBs) and switching and/or monitoring audio/video equipment. Performs maintenance and repair on large transmit/receive and receive-only satellite antenna systems.
Provide sketches of drawings required for equipment installation.
- System level and bench level electronics troubleshooting experience.
- Operational configurations awareness and routine preventative maintenance skills required.
- Assist the site manager in daily operations oversight—as required.
- Provide operational continuity in manager’s absence.
- Maintain team shift scheduling with the manager and must be able to perform occasional shift work as directed in scheduled events, anomalies and manpower deficit.
- Maintain the use of a company-provided phone in the event of necessary remote support.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assemble wave guide systems, efficiently utilize sophisticated test equipment, perform documentation tasks, and successfully interact with management & engineers.
