Job Title: Lead, Global Market ResearchLocation: Barcelona, SpainStrategic Context:Currently, Sanofi has the most robust pipeline and forthcoming product launches in the company’s history. As the next phase of our Play-To-Win strategy, Sanofi must appropriately support this pipeline to materialize our vision of delivering scientific miracles to patients worldwide. Thus, modernizing the Sanofi operational structure is also required. In line with this, project DRIVE is shepherding change throughout the organization and created the development of the Go-to-Market Capabilities (GTMC) team within the company.The new GTMC organization is charged with delivering best-in-class capabilities to bring speed and increased value to commercial operations. It will refine priorities across products, markets, and the pipeline through dynamic resource allocation and efficiencies. Silos that existed between business units as well as duplicative and overlapping resources will be replaced with standardized processes and tools. Operating with a One Sanofi mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, GTMC will accelerate and improve key capabilities to do more with less and facilitate the best-informed strategic decision making across the organization.The GTMC organization aims to:Centralize Go-to-Market operational tasks across GBUsStandardize best‑in‑class capabilities, strengthen global support, and implement a better vertical reporting structure within GTMC from local to globalDefine ways of working, bringing clarity on the interactions across GBUs, Digital, and Commercial executional support teams from Sanofi hubs to optimize process excellence and efficiencyThe Lead, Market Research is responsible for providing market and customer insights through the execution of market research that will help drive key strategic and tactical decisions across Sanofi. As a member of the Insights and Analytics (I&A) team, this individual will be an integral strategic partner to Sanofi Commercial leadership,
leading the development & application of cutting‑edge market research methodologies to achieve the full potential of Sanofi’s expanding portfolio.This position will report to the Global Head, Vaccine Insights & Analytics primarily for the Flu & Covid Franchises at Sanofi and will be based in Barcelona, Spain.ResponsibilitiesExecute all market research projects with the support of the LeadLead market research projects to support the brand strategy, including identification of market research needs, vendor selection, design, execution and interpretation of studiesHave the confidence and experience to select the best vendor based on the business objectivesManage projects within budgets, schedules and corporate policies and SOPsExplore innovative techniques to address business questionsIdentify insight needs and recommend approaches to address these needsFoster strong agency partnerships to ensure insights are based on reliable, high‑quality informationCoordinate vendors at each stage of the market research process and provide business/brand knowledge to aid in fieldwork material and report developmentCommunicate actionable insightsDevelop and refine presentations to effectively communicate complex information clearly and concisely with a clear call to actionIntegrate and synthesize information from multiple sources to proactively address business needsDeliver strategic insights, tailored to each specific audience, which empower commercial teamsShow strategic business acumen when communicating insights,
addressing key business questions and providing recommendationsEffectively collaborate and partner within a matrix environmentWork closely with brand teams to identify and address business needsDevelop strong strategic partnerships with the brand teamsCollaborate across functions (i.E., forecasting, analytics, patient services) to deliver integrated insights and recommendations to commercial teamsDemonstrate a solution‑oriented and proactive approach to problem‑solvingWork with general and local colleagues to ensure alignment and coordination across projectsLead and develop junior team members where applicableEducation RequirementsBachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, MD, Ph D) preferred.Skills and CompetenciesA minimum of 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical market research; equivalent combination of education (MA, MS, MBA/Ph D) and/or relevant consulting experience may be consideredStrong understanding of all types of market research methodologies, with experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative market research from end‑to‑end, including strong quantitative analytical skills, data analysis and statisticsProven ability to recommend, plan and lead market research projects.Strong strategic thinking ability, with understanding of the life‑sciences industryExcellent project management skills, with ability to balance multiple projects / prioritiesKnowledge and experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.G., prescription and sales data, patient claims data, promotional audits) preferredExperience working directly within or partnering with related functions including new product planning, marketing, value & access, a plusEffectively influence in a highly matrixed environmentEffectively and confidently communicate to various audiences, including senior leadershipSynthesize complex ideas to simpleDevelop brand implications from market research findings, not just a summary of the dataStrong learning agility and high degree of curiosityStrong focus on detail, accuracy, and ability to solve problems through analytical reasoningStrong work ethic and personal motivationAbility to think strategically in an ambiguous environment and flex and pivot as the business requires
