Experteer Overview As a Systems Engineer in Novanta Ru0026amp; A, you will shape safe, high-performance motion control for demanding industrial and medical applications. You’ll focus on functional safety, translating customer needs into system-level requirements, architectures, and verification plans across hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical domains. You’ll develop safety concepts and contribute to safety analyses and certifications, working with a cross-functional team using advanced power electronics. - Develop and maintain system requirements, architecture, and functional decompositions
- Maintain requirements traceability across the product lifecycle
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, quality, and product teams
- Evaluate trade-offs and propose robust technical solutions
- Define and maintain functional safety requirements and safety architectures
- Develop diagnostic concepts and support safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA)
- Perform safety-related calculations (PFH, MTTFd, DC, SFF)




- Ensure alignment with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 and regulatory requirements
- Support third-party safety assessments and certification activities
- Develop safety case documentation and customer-facing guidance
- Define engineering procedures for functional safety software development and testing
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and practicesResponsabilidades
- MSc in Electrical Engineering or related field; PhD not required
- 2+ years in systems engineering, embedded systems, functional safety, or related product development
- Experience with Requirements Management tools
- Functional safety experience at application or end-product level, preferably in robotics or automation
- Knowledge of IEC 61508 and ISO 13849
- Experience with FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA
- System-level safety calculations knowledge (PFH, MTTFd, DC, SFF)
- Background in electronic design with embedded hardware/software
- Full professional English proficiency
