Staff Backend Engineer – Remote, Europe

Base Pay Range

$120,000 – $200,000 per year, plus equity 0.5%–1%

Accountabilities

- Design, develop, and scale high‐traffic backend services, APIs, and runtime systems.
- Build developer interfaces, SDKs, and tools that enhance developer experience.
- Collaborate with customers to understand and solve integration challenges.
- Optimize backend performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Contribute to open‐source repositories and engage with the developer community.
- Shape the technical roadmap and strategic decisions across the platform.
- Mentor teammates and support incident response when necessary.

Requirements
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience with high‐traffic systems.
- Strong expertise in developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance‐critical applications.
- Proficient in Node.js and modern backend technology stacks.
- Deep understanding of developer experience (DX)



and product‐focused engineering.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work proactively in a remote‐first environment.
- Ownership‐driven mindset, able to navigate ambiguity, and contribute effectively in a startup setting.
