IRB Barcelona's Innovation Department is looking for a Business Development Manager to accelerate the translation of biomedical research into patient impact to expand the institute's commercial partnerships — with a particular focus on microbiome and microorganism-related technologies.
Key responsibilities
Identify and engage pharma, biotech, and investor partners to build a pipeline of licensing, sponsored research, and collaboration agreements.
Lead negotiations and close technology transfer agreements.
Map market opportunities and support spin-off creation and entrepreneurial initiatives.
Manage IP service providers and coordinate with legal and regulatory advisors.
Drive proof-of-concept projects and secure dedicated funding to advance technologies toward market.
Lead project management of innovation and translational projects: planning, milestone tracking, stakeholder coordination, and reporting.
Coordinate cross-functional tasks across internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
You have
PhD in Biology,



Chemistry, or related field.
1–3 years contributing to translational research or technology transfer initiatives
Basic grounding in business economics and IP/legal frameworks.
Entrepreneurial mindset: outward-facing, proactive, and deal-oriented.
Strong communicator across scientific and business audiences.
Project Management: Ability to plan, coordinate, and track complex multi-stakeholder projects with rigor and autonomy.
Experience with start-up incubation, acceleration programs, or entrepreneurial ventures (desirable).
